Style

Canard-Duchêne builds blends in the Montagne de Reims tradition, with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier carrying body and structure alongside a smaller Chardonnay component. The range is built around accessibly-priced non-vintage cuvées (Brut, Rosé, Demi-Sec) plus the Authentic Vert organic line, with vintage and prestige cuvées released in stronger years. The house style favours rounded fruit and a moderate dosage rather than tense, low-dosage styling.

History

Canard-Duchêne was founded in 1868 by Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne in Ludes, on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims. The house passed through several owners during the 20th century and has been part of the Alain Thiénot Group since 2003, alongside sister labels including Maison Thiénot and Marie Stuart. Production remains based at the historic Ludes site.
