Style

Deutz is generally associated with finesse, precision and a supple mousse. The house draws strongly on grand cru and premier cru sources, with Aÿ Pinot Noir giving structure and Côte des Blancs Chardonnay supporting the top cuvées.

Cuvées

  • Brut Classic — the non-vintage flagship.
  • Brut Rosé — rosé expression.
  • Blanc de Blancs — vintage Chardonnay cuvée.
  • William Deutz — prestige vintage blend.
  • Amour de Deutz — Blanc de Blancs prestige cuvée, with a rosé counterpart.

History

William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, both from Aachen, founded the house in Aÿ in 1838. Deutz became part of the Louis Roederer group in the late 20th century, which helped reinforce its vineyard base and international distribution.

Positioning

Deutz is a refined Grande Marque with a strong restaurant and fine-wine reputation, less mass-market in tone than many larger houses.
